A modern League of Extraordinary Gentlemen?

I'm putting together an idea for a fanfiction for LXG, and I've only got a few members of the new League so far[phpbay] I've been racking my brains, but I can't think of anyone[phpbay][phpbay][phpbay]

Requirements are:
- A character from a book first and foremost, not someone from a movie or tv series[phpbay]
- The book must have been published/take place no earlier than the '90s[phpbay]
- No Twilight or Harry Potter characters - those are so obvious[phpbay]

So far I've got Lestat, from Anne Rice's vampire novels, a character from one of my own original fictions, and possibly V from V for Vendetta[phpbay] I'm also thinking about maybe throwing in Wolverine or someone else from X-Men[phpbay]

The most important thing is you choose really famous character's that most people will know[phpbay]
Wolverine sounds like a good one[phpbay]
and I love Lestat but just so you know Anne Rice doesn't allow fanfiction based on any of her work[phpbay]
Since these character's are more 'modern' I'm guessing you don't need them all to be gentleMEN, so if I were you I'd have about 2 or 3 female characters[phpbay] And because Mina is immortal she can still be in the new league[phpbay]

Anyway here are my ideas:

Will from 'His Dark Materials' - Phillip Pullman[phpbay]
I recon he could be the equivalent of Tom[phpbay]

Almost any character by - L[phpbay]J[phpbay] Smith
(although Damian sticks out as being an interesting character in my mind - Kind of reminds me of a mixture of Dorian and Skinner)[phpbay]

Robert Langdon from the 'Da Vinci Code' - Dan Brown[phpbay]
(Okay it was written in 2003 or 2000 for Angels and Demons, although I suppose you could use Susan from Digital fortress released 1998)[phpbay]

DEATH (or any other character) from the Discworld Series - Terry Pratchett[phpbay]
Good for humour, definitely[phpbay] Nanny Ogg would also be funny[phpbay]

Susan from the Chronicles of Narnia - CS[phpbay] Lewis[phpbay]
I say Susan because while all the other Pevensie's returned for 'The Last Battle' Susan was left all on her own back on earth thinking they'd all died[phpbay] She could be older and lonely but would have lots of life and battle experience[phpbay] Maybe she could be secretly looking for a way back into Narnia?

And although I’ve never read them what about someone from the Wizard of Oz (or Wicked), Alice in Wonderland or a character written Neil Gaiman or Tamora Pierce[phpbay]
I also think Daren Shan (from the Saga of Daren Shan by -you guessed it- Darren Shan) would also be a good character even though the dates are wrong (first book written in 2000)[phpbay]
