Games like Legacy of Kain and Bloodrayne have a dark, vampiric element to them, but Bloodlines gives the players the true experience, allowing your chracter to drink the blood of humans or rats, along with superhuman abilities and the choice of a character from a number of different vampire races, each with their own strengths and weaknesses[phpbay] For example, the nosferatu race is the most disfigured and bat-like, so they are physically powerful, but cannot be seen by humans, so they have to travel by sewer and reach their destinations by conveniently placed manhole covers[phpbay]

For a game from 2004, the graphics fairly detailed and the areas of the game are much like what we would see in vampire movies: dark, dirty alleys, polluted streets lined with prostitutes and drug addicts, seedy bars and nightclubs, and the occasional abondoned yet still very haunted hotel[phpbay] Bloodlines makes it very fun to explore the LA and the surrounding areas and stealth is always an option to remain unseen while wandering around where you aren't supposed to be[phpbay]

Bloodlines blurrs the line between humans and vampires; they are no flying around in the form of bats or wearing black capes and rocking the Christopher Lee type slicked back hair[phpbay] Vampires do what they can to fit into human society, thus perpetuating the "Masquerade", which means humans can never know that vampires exist[phpbay]

Choice is a big factor in Bloodlines, killing innocent people by either attacking them or draining all their blood will cost you human points, causing you to lose control and enter a frenzied state, attacking anything in sight[phpbay] Being a good vampire gains you human point,s so you can blend into society without worrying about law enforcement[phpbay] Later on in the game, you pick sides with warring Vampire clans, and who you choose determines the outcome of the game[phpbay]

Horror movies are OK, but for an added level of suspense, nothing is better than actually playing one[phpbay] Bloodlines has what I believe to be one of the two scariest places in a game, one being the Shalebridge Cradle in Thief 3, and the other being the haunted hotel in Bloodlines[phpbay] Pretty early on in the game, someone will ask you to retrieve an item from the hotel, and it's your job to search the hotel and get it back[phpbay] For added suspense, I recommend you play it in the dark with headphones[phpbay]

Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines is such a fun, unique gaming experience that a fan of any genre will enjoy it, I just hope a sequel comes out to keep this great series going[phpbay]
